(Thank you for your service as well, and I'm very glad you're studying at Columbia.  Very cool :-).)

That original article in Editor and Publisher was frustrating to read, b/c inaccurate, with no real way to correct them/it.  Anyone who bothered to actually read Zoriah's blog could see, it wasn't just "a photo" of "one Marine," it was clearly several photos, of several downed Americans.  So why they didn't bother to a) check out the original material; or b) correct the error in the article they were citing, was pretty lame.  I've only read two articles in Editor and Publisher now -- both about Marines -- and they were both wrong.  Didn't impress me too much.  I learned about Zoriah's site b/c he blogrolled mine; then went to check his out and was floored by his content -- truly great.  Of course, I happened to catch it right before this controversy broke, so I've been watching it with interest, and hoping the Marines will find some middle ground that doesn't involve kicking him out of future embeds and/or blacklisting him.  It's clear both that various grunts DO get what he did and not hold it against him; and also that various top brass HAVE liked work he's done in the past, and have been moved by it -- like his coverage of the Baghdad ER.  So I hope his situation works out, b/c he's highly talented and those photos are, as someone else said of his work, both "tragic and amazing." If anything, they should put the rest of us in touch with the sacrifices people like you HAVE made.  Anyway.  Cool stuff; thanks for bringing it to others' attention.

I cover combat trauma and PTSD on my blog, which is read fairly heavily, including by the Marine Corps.  If you find it and email me from that, I can let you know about at least one other Marine (besides yourself) who's now a journalist, and put you in touch with him.  Good luck on all your future plans -- that's a great combination background to have...
